how much to pay ds's nursery nurse for occasional daytime babysitting on saturday

Hi

I am looking at very occasionally having ds's keyworker at nursery babysitting for him in the daytime on a Saturday.

He is 2, knows her well know and she knows him so seems a good idea.

We have a friend who babysits in the evenings sometimes and we pay her £6 an hour and if any of the other 2 babysitters we use do it instead they get the same.

However I think babysitting in the day is different as it's much harder work than just sitting watching tv while ds sleeps so I think the girl from nursery deserves more per hour!

Anyone got a take on how much we should pay per hour and whether we should say there is a minimum to make it worth her while coming over on a sat for just 2 or 3 hours?

(we are in London btw)

I'd say £8ph with a minimum of 3 hours is reasonable.

Hi

That sounds sensible. I just wouldn't feel comfortable paying her the same as for evening babysitting!

It needs to be worth her while too doesn't it so that's why I thought we need a minimum amount.

Thanks Scottishthistle - good advice

Yes, I think weekends are different anyway...I know I'm slightly reluctant to give up a few hours of my Saturday unless it's worth my while.
