What's the going rate for nannies and childmnders in Essex?

Hi, I'm looking to go back to work and need to consider childcare costs. If anyone in the West Essex area (ie: Loughton, Waltham Abbey, Epping etc), has or is a childminder/nanny, could you tell me what you pay/get paid per hour? Sorry for this rambly question but would love some answers.

I can't answer but if you go on the childcare link website www.childcarelink.gov.uk you can put your postcode or local area in and you'll get a list of childminders and hopefully their fees

Hello
We live near you (heading closer in to London)and paid our nanny £70 per day. Neighbor down the street paid £75.When I called Hillary's, an agency in Buckhurst Hill, they quoted me £60-65 per day plus tax. They also do au pairs/mother's helps.

At the time I was interviewing I did meet people who wanted more (£80). But I think at £70 you'd be able to find someone. You would need to add tax and NICS onto these figures.

For what it's worth, from what I've heard on the grapevine, there are lots of nannies looking for work now, particularly as most of the mums in our area seem to work part-time. So you might be able to find someone willing to do it for a bit less.

Childminders around £35-45 per day. Nurseries similiar. RE nurseries - not spoiled for choice in this area. I have a friend who is really happy with Dolphin Nursery (bet loughton and b'hurst hill) and there is a nursery on Queen Street in B'hurst hill which is also good but tough to get a place in. But this might be too far in for you.

Thanks Genidef. I'm actually in Loughton!! So I do know about the nurseries in the area but I have an older daughter at school so need to consider nannies/childminder. Thanks for your info anyhow and will take a quick look at the link Looneytune. I think I'm looking towards childminder end as DD2 will be starting nursery school in January.
