I hate cars... why do they always have problems on Bank Holiday weekends

Am I the only childcarer who knows little about cars? Mine has just developed a fault (on the way to work today) and the soonest the garage can look at it, is Tuesday! I have to work Sunday and Monday, so will need to use the car... oh right pain. Seem to have temporarily resolved the issue - [[http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk?topicid=1375&threadid=329827 details]. Wish these things would not happen on a bank holiday.

My car broke down on Thurs teatime with mindees in the car, called out AA and he got it started so I could get home and told me what was wrong with it. Its a simple job and dh can replace the offending part BUT the part wont be in until tues. Lucky its half term this week and don't need to use the car or I would be stuck.
Hope you have been able to use your car ok nick and you get it sorted tomorrow.

I broke down once on the way to toddler group - the children were more excited about being towed home by the AA than anything else we'd done for ages!

Yes it's been fine since I managed to top up the brake fluid. Garage will look at it Tuesday morning, to see if they can figure out why the fluid level dropped. Expect they may flush through the system, replace the fluid and hope for the best. Not sure when the fluid was last replaced... supposed to be done every 2 years, but the service log doesn't seem to indicate when it was last done. I do wonder sometimes why I pay a main dealer to do services!
I know so little about cars, should really try to learn a bit more. At least I knew what brake fluid to get and where to put it.
