Had an expected unexpected call from Ofsted last week...

Been having a contractual dispute with parent of an ex-mindee since December. Basically when she moved mindee to somewhere else, she refused to pay for notice period and for the last month of care without explanation.

NCMA Legal Team have been dealing with it. The parent has come up with all sorts of insults and made-up crap to get out of paying, including lying about NCMA working with her to prove she shouldn't have to pay for the notice period. I mean, honestly, this woman can't be very bright if she thinks that NCMA Legal Team and NCMA are not linked in any way...

Anyway, last week Ofsted paid me a visit, about a complaint made anonymously, but referring to the mindee in question (not very anonymous really eh?) After speaking to me for 45 mins, the Ofsted lady said that I am lovely and she is satisfied with my childcare practice, that the complaint cannot be upheld and, in her opinion, it's just a case of the parent avoiding payment and nothing more. I gave the Ofsted lady some info about mindee that was relevant and she told me that I had handled everything in the way that would be expected of me and that, if I was in the same situation again, I should handle it exactly the same again.

So I have decided that at the moment I love Ofsted. She was so nice and I hope that, finally, this case might be coming to an end.

Must be very trying for you - hope the situation's resolved soon.

thanks fairyjay. fingers crossed for me! she has been served now and we are just waiting for a date to go to court. if i win and she doesn't pay, i can get something called an attachment of earnings order so that the money comes out of her pay packet monthly until it is paid off, so we should be ok

Hi nally.

Pleased to hear you're getting this sorted.

At our last OFSTED inspection ( we run a nursery) we asked our (lovely) inspector how they deal with these kinds of things. She told us that 90% of complaints are , when scratched below the surface, about money. OFSTED will not get involved in financial disputes, unless, as in your case, the parent dresses it up as a complaint about care.

nally same happening to me now
parent took mindee out because i fell ill on a friday at dinner time so had to phone everybody to say i couldnt work that afternoon.
mindees mum complained that i didnt give her enough notice so took mindee out

i text her to say 2 weeks notice needs to be given and got a reply back saying that she had phoned ofsted and they have assured her under the circumstances she doesnt have to pay me notice.

it boils down to she has accused me of hurting the younger children (not her child as her child is 8)

anyway NCMA have been fab and are helping, but they advised me to phone ofsted myself to ask why they said she shouldnt pay as its not their area so yesterday i phoned ofsted and they have informed me no phone call has been made to them from anybody about me.

the bi**ch so i have just been to the post office to send a recorded delivery letter to her explaining what i have been advised and what i have found out, i have given her till june 1st to pay the money or NCMA are taking her to the claims court for me

so cross for you and for me how evil can some parents be when you bend over backwards to help them.
