Childtax credit? Can we claim

Hi I was just wondering if there is any way we can claim the childcare element of the working tax credit if we as registered childminders have our own dc with us at home. They are taking up a place that could get us an amount of money each week therefore it is almost like we pay a full week of our earnings for their childcare! Do any of you manage to claim it back or am I just wishful thinking?

wishful thinkig _ i did query this and was told

"Mrs Saltire, it's your choice to stay at home and be a childcare provider, so therefore you aren't entitled to any tax credits"

dont' think so,
aren't your own chldren included in any totals anyways when you childmind?

as your own child is taking up a place, minimising your potential income I think they should include the cost of the place your child is taking up in their calculations.

But they don't. AFIK you can't claim for your own child.
