Put yourself on all the waiting lists

Could you look into an aupair - we had one when I was a kid but no idea how they work now

Waiting list with everybody, things change, people move.

Ask on Local facebook parenting pages, somebody might be new starting out as a childminder who might not be in the usual networks.

Advertise for a before/afterschool nanny or nanny share?

Where are you based?

Apply to work for flexible working.
Be on all waiting lists - for the club, for any childminders who collect from the school.
Check with local Family Information Service every two weeks with regard to any new childcare providers in the area.

Before/after school nanny is a costly option for one child but could be worth at least costing it out. Childcare.co.uk and NannyJob.co.uk are popular UK childcare listing sites.

Who do you know and who do they know - use your connections to see if anyone knows of a local student whose college hours might fit.
