Can anyone help......

i have called a few CM;s but understandably due to numbers limits etc they cant help.

However this leaves me with a problem, im a doula, often work at short notice (no one can plan their labour time and date!) and i need some sort of childcare to cover at times.

i also need it for when i book in postnatal work.

What sort of childcare should I be looking for?

Thanks,

Carly

dont know would have thought cm were the best op
some childminders are allowed 3 under 5 but stick to having just 2 children this would be the best type of cm to contact (realise not always available)
what about use the parents (the ones your helping) childcarers for a fee
find a friend

sorry its so hard this parenting lark

Try www.emergencychildcare.co.uk website. I have used them before and they were incredibly easy to use. I was able to book at 6pm for an 8am next morning start. I got the impression you could book on the day as well though I might be wrong about that.

They are supposed to be more expensive than a regular childcare, but for the nursery I chose they were exactly the same price.

At the moment it is free to register your child with them (just in case you ever need them in the future), at some point soon though they are going to start charging for registering.

Migh be worth a look.

herts... i did manage to find a CM who will have the DCs on an ad hoc basis....might be worth carrying on looking

the emergency child care doesn;t have anyone in my area..but might do for down south

IS there anyone here that could help you?

I do ad-hoc care too!

Judy1234 · 21/05/2007 22:38

A few years ago we advertised for kind of ad hoc - it was Saturday am or something like that and occasional other times and got about 60 people calling up. One person is still here 5 years later and she just happened not to work full time anywhere else and just wanted some casual work to fit in and has worked with children for years. She has the children in our house here and is not a registered child minder but she's great.

My sister has sometimes used a nanny agency who do emergency childcare - difference there is you have their fees etc to pay

thats a good idea aswell, maybe i should placec an advert.
