My dd who is 19, sensible, capable, mature, non-smoking/drinking/clubbing etc and who has excellent childcare experience and references is looking for Summer Au Pair position.
She worked as an au-pair for another mumsnetter in London last Summer, is a great swimmer, has been my trusty childminder's assistant, is currently working as a full time learning support assistant in a school for children with physical disabilities - again excellent references - and is starting primary teacher training in September.
She is currently taking driving lessons and may be qualified by the Summer.
Please contact me on freerangechildcare at googlemail dot com if you may be interested in offering her any work.
Thank you.

I have met her, and can personally say that she is in fact fab. And so is Goosey. It obviously runs in the family.

She is more than an au pair really. You could definatley trust her with some sole charge of little ones.

Hi we may well be interested we are in buckinghamshire how long is she available for?

yogimum · 17/05/2007 09:29

We are in Dorset and will be moving house shortly. Am moving from a village to a town within walking distance to the centre. My husband is away working until sometime in August. I have one child nearly 10 months.

Thanks Eleusis Hope all's well with you all.
Bucksmum, I will check later with dd - she is at work right now - for the exact start date of her degree course. I know she said it was September, so she will be looking for a Summer position probably until the schools start back.
We are in Devon yogimum, so not too far away.
She is also extremely proficient at housework and can cook.

Gosh she sounds wonderful! Good upbringing obviously! Would she be happy on an au pair salary?

gooseegg · 17/05/2007 11:48

Yes, she is quite lovely.
I work her hard here for her keep and don't pay her anything (her choice to take a year out after finishing school), so yes she would be happy on a good au-pair's wage.
She would value the experience.

what is a good au pair's wage. Would an employer have to pay tax and NI?

gooseegg · 17/05/2007 12:10

She was paid £80/wk last Summer, plus return train fares x 2, all meals and her own room.
Tax and NI does not need to be deducted.
She wouldn't want to earn any less than this.

Thank you.
