This may sound a funny one but as I'm asking loads of questions, thought I'd ask you lot this one.

Mindee is 2 in July, going through a 'phase' and testing me lots . I know how to deal with the usual and it's starting to work (i.e. wouldn't sit on snack mat again today so no snack, gave few chances then said 'when you sit on the mat you can have your snack' - i ignored her cries and hey presto, ages later she sat perfectly on the mat and called out to me ). The problem I am unsure how to deal with is her obsession about shoes and coats/cardigan etc. Everyone removes their shoes when they come in but when I take hers off, she's screams 'shoes, shoes' for ages after and I just say 'no shoes in house'. She's also like this about coats or cardy jacket type thing, anything outdoors basically!! I've never had this before so could do with some advice. Do you think I just keep on as I am about 'not in house'? Any other tips? I reckon her obsession is due to mummy leaving it til very late before she finally listened to me and got her some shoes, bless

Cor blimey looney ! Yes you are right to use the broken record technique, I use it a lot eg 'in Ju's house we always sit to eat or drink, in Ju's house we always take our shoes off, in Ju's house blah blah you get the picture. Keep up the good work x

Ah bless they do have their eccentricities don't they! I have siblings who have blanket obsessions (and one of them like his coat at mine intead of his blanket) - he wanders around manically snuggling it!

At this time of year I'd let them have coat on in house but defo not shoes! Tis a house rule I always stick to! Hopefully by winter will have a new phase!

could she have some indoor shoes / slippers to put on when she takes her outdoor ones off?
They are so proud of their shoes...

My own daughter is obsessed at the moment with umbrellas and helium balloons! Must admit I do give in to her a bit and let her have the umbrella in the house - as long as she doesn't try to put it up (bad luck-not that I'm supersticious!) or use it as a weapon!!

Thanks everyone, I will stick with 'not in looneytune's house' and mum said she'll try and remember to put indoor shoes/slippers in the bag from now on and see if that helps. I can let her have her jacket on in the house etc (although she'll end up feeling colder when outside) but there is NO WAY i'm letting her walk about with shoes on in my house, if she does then everyone will think they can.

Fingers crossed the phase stops soon
