Basically wondering who to start looking for to cover the following situation, which is likely to arise for a couple of days every month or so due to how DH and my shifts in different jobs are likely to work.

We’ll need someone to pick DS1 up from after school club at 5.30ish, DS2 from nursery by 6, get them both home, fed and into bed - I should hopefully be home by 10pm. As I say only likely to arise a couple of times a month, so not a regular commitment, but ideally would like to have the same person do it each time for continuity/ familiarity/ trust purposes. I don’t know what job description I’m looking for though - I would say a babysitter but needing to do pickups complicates it a bit. I don’t know where to start searching!

I'd call it after-school care and id contact your nearest uni or college and ask to advertise to their students.

I used childcare.com and managed to find someone who could do similar hours for me. Also try your local area site like next door etc . Good luck with it all ..

I struggled to find qualified evening childcare for two evenings a week and that was as a regular commitment. It turned out well for me as I ended up employing a friend's teenage daughter to babysit and she has been absolutely wonderful and developed a lovely close relationship with my daughter.

I'm a babysitter for 3 families so do a job about once a month or so, I can't commit to a regular schedule and tend to avoid pick ups but as it's early evening and infrequent I'd go for something like this. Have a look on childcare.com and I'm sure you'll find someone whose a good fit. Good luck!
