Childcare Vouchers and SMP

I work in education and being on maternity leave and paying childcare vouchers my employer has written to me stating once I go on statutory maternity pay only they will pay for my childcare vouchers. There is no mention of having to repay the money....would I have to repay this? If not I think I may increase my deductions to get the most benefit.

Your employer can't take deductions from smp so depending on their policy they can suspend the vouchers or pay for them. It will depend on your employer when / whether you can vary the amount.

I work in the NHS and in my Trust they will be paying them for me during SMP and the unpaid period!
