At the moment i am paid by all my mindees on the first day they attend, weekly for amount due.

A nebie about to start is used to paying her old minder monthly. I just wondered how many of you get paid monthly, as this could work out to be a large amount to wait for in some cases.

Monthly

In advance

In the bank on 1st of the month

I make it into 12 equal payments

FeelingOld · 02/05/2007 21:29

Monthly (although do have one who pays me weekly but I prefer monthly).

mogs0 · 02/05/2007 21:34

Monthly, in advance.

I find it much easier to budget when being paid monthly!

moonstar04 · 02/05/2007 21:35

Blimey am I the only one paid weekly then?

i prefer direct payment by parent into bank but only one was happy to set it up and now they have left, all others say they WANT to pay cash, which means either i or more often than not dp, has to go to back, whereas a nice Standing order would be so much easier!

em28677 · 02/05/2007 21:44

i get paid first day of the week that they are cared for for the week in advance then invoice them on the last day of the week for the following one so everyone knows how much is owed. Find it works really well as all parents know how much is due and any adjustments for illness etc can be deducted or extra hours worked added the next week instead of remembering it for a whole month

mogs0 · 02/05/2007 21:58

Mine all pay me by S/O which is much better because the amount of times they used to "forget" to go to the cash machine was beyond a joke! It is a slight hassle if I have a holiday and have to refund them though!!

ThePrisoner · 02/05/2007 23:49

I get paid weekly, although a couple of families have been paying monthly (they asked, because it suited them better). I am, I think, the only childminder in the whole world who is paid in arrears!!

eachpeachnallyplum · 02/05/2007 23:55

my part-timers pay in advance weekly. when i had a full-time one i was paid monthly in arrears, which caused problems sometimes. basically i prefer to be paid in advance but am flexible, depending on what the parent wants.

princesscc · 03/05/2007 00:00

I get monthly for my full time baby and weekly by my after schoolers. Reason being, full time is just that, but schoolies are different every time there is a school holiday.

ayla99 · 03/05/2007 09:26

I give parents the choice of whether they want to pay weekly or monthly and which day/date they want as their payment date. This means they can work it so they have to pay me just after they've got paid. Whatever they choose goes on the contract and I make it clear that this is not flexible - they have to pay on OR BEFORE the payment due date and cannot change the date without giving 4 weeks notice.

So some pay weekly, some monthly and I have lots of pay days!

crace · 03/05/2007 09:30

I give the parents the option but I love being paid monthly. Much preferred!

smeeinit · 03/05/2007 18:38

weekly in arrears cash or standing order, dont accept cheques anymore!

Shoshable · 03/05/2007 18:44

Monthly in advance on the 1st of the month by cheque, and one of my mums who works next to the bank usually pays them in for me!

Tan1959 · 03/05/2007 19:01

Monthly in advance apart from one who pay weekly in advance...

Tan1959 · 03/05/2007 19:02

I don't accept cheques either - prefer DD as I have very little time to do my banking...

dmo · 03/05/2007 22:00

i get vouchers monthly in advance
and most parents write me pre-dated cheques for a whole term to pay into my bank weekly

franyfroo · 04/05/2007 10:12

just to be paid at all this month would be good. got 2 outstandings, both should have been in on 1st of months. really really cross, heavy month this month, financially and they have really let me down. gona do a fees policy and told everyone im gona charge from now on.

always invoice for monthly payment.
