How long did you have to go without childminding, how helpful were ofsted?

To put it in a nutshell we live in a housing association property they have offered us a transfer to a bigger house, there's no way we can afford to buy in the next 3-4years BUT we are seriously broke and moving means we need money, I've lost 2 full time children in the space of a month. The rent is going to be an extra £100 a month and i'm going to have to have some time off to unpack etc.

As much as we can't afford to move we can't afford not to move either this may be our last chance at living in a bigger house for a good few years.

So please post your experiences, tips, advice here please

this hossue we bought was owned by a cm, she contact ofsted as she wanted to keep cm'ing straight away in new house and they just told her to do a risk assesment her self!..i would write to them and suggest this..try and get moved on the saturday or maybe friday, then most parents will be happy to accomaodate a few days while you get sorted?
how long have you been cming for now?, im sure if you have been happily getting good 'grades' from them they will be more than happy for you to do this?

My cm moved recently. She moved on the Friday and DS went to her on Weds his normal day - although think she started earlier than htis. Although she wasn't supposed till she had been ionspected by Ofsted who actually came the Weds after she moved. All the kids had to be taken out by her DH while they were there! LOL

I moved house on the 30th March. Well, our purchase completed on the 30th. The parents knew we were buying, and knew it would be then about two weeks before. We started moving stuff Friday night, roped in family and friends Saturday to move the rest and clean old house (rented) and spent Sunday unpacking and getting it in a reasonable state.

I started CMing 8am on the Monday (first day of the Easter hols)

I phoned Ofsted about three weeks before, and was told to send them a risk assessment of the new house - so I asked for an extra visit to it and did one. Looney sent me her risk assessment and letter from her move which was a great help. Ofsted sent me my new registration form for new address 3 days before the move!! They posted it to new address too which was a bit duh lol

They've said I won't be inspected until my next inspection is due (may 2008) I think it helps that not only was my risk assessment thorough, but there was a CM living here before.

I forgot to clarify, they have to send you a new certificate for your new address before you move, else you can't CM at the new address until they do.

Ok thanks guys - i'm pretty sure of which house it is but i can't get in to look at it until the 14th may so can't really do a risk assesment and write to ofsted until then so i'm a bit stuck. By the time i do send it all off i'll only have 2-3 weeks til we move in then i can probably have 1 week to move in and set everything up so its all ready for cm-ing.

Its says on OFSTED's website it can take up to 6 mths. So i'm obviously worried. I did have my inspection in October 2006 though and got good in all areas plus we're only moving over the road and the houses are pretty similar apart from it will be bigger.

the cm who lived here prior to us(seems we all buy houses of cm's??[grin) just did her risk assesment when she got in(her sellers were funny about too many visits), so i dont suppose she had her altered certificate as soon as she was in, but they were fine with it!...ask for a fax/email to confirm if they ok it??
