I have been trying to complete my 3 monthly reconfirmation in order to maintain the eligibility code for my 30 free hours childcare, is anyone else having problems?
I can log in, it asks me if I want to reconfirm, I click continue and or says I have chosen not to reconfirm!!
There is no way of contacting anyone to help, just lots of links to FAQS which arn't relevant.
Does anyone know if this is a glitch or a way of contacting someone to help?

are you on twitter? HMRC (believe it or not) are on Twitter and if you post a very angry message, hashtag hmrc. hashtag freechildcare. They do respond occasionally!

poohsticks13 · 18/01/2018 12:28

I kept getting that.
Does it ask you about childcare vouchers etc and changing your scheme? I changed my answer to 'yes' and then it took me somewhere where I was able to reconfirm. I think it's a glitch.

Hope that makes sense!

I had a glitch and couldn’t reconfirm. Don’t panic yet. Your childcare provider has a grace period whereby the old code is still valid (my grace period was many months).

If you are changing provider then ignore what I’ve said and start to panic (or better still call them :-) ). A new provider will need a new code.

They are a pain to get through to on the phone but if you sit on hold you will eventually get through.

Thank you for replies. Have called and it is the glitch you mention. For some reason you have to state you have stopped receiving childcare vouchers to progress to reconfirmation even though we still do. All sorted

Yep I had the same thing at the weekend. No idea why it can't be straightforward! I also thought it was a termly thing and as I had my code for Jan onwards had ignored the emails Confused sorted now though.

PrincessWatermelon · 18/01/2018 13:36

I had the exact same thing last night. I had to state the childcare vouchers had stopped in order to reconfirm. I did that, but am now panicking that I've lied as they haven't stopped. Is it worth contacting them do you think?

Hohofortherobbers · 18/01/2018 17:51

She said on the phone that you state thd vouchers have stopped in order to progress onto the summary page where you confirm thd details haven't changed then again the bottom of that page you can select that you still collect vouchers. She did the reconfirmation on the phone for me. Hope they sort it out quick, bound to be causing everyone a headache. They were very helpful, I'd call if you're concerned

Sorry for all typos "then AT the bottom of the page"

I still can't reconfirm mine, and the deadline is tomorrow!!

I just keep getting a page saying they're experiencing technical difficulties and to call the number mentioned above.

I've called twice today and spoke to two rude idiots, who've basically said there's nothing they can do I've just got to keep trying. They're notifying It of the problem. It's been like it for at least a week and a half.

Absolute joke!

ohlittlepea · 18/01/2018 19:44

yep we had the same thing and had to sort on the phone.

I knew Mumsnet would have the answer! I went round in circles and panicked about it for a bit, then figured I couldn't be alone. Thank you Hohofortherobbers, I tried what you suggested and it (eventually) worked, although I had to reconfirm most of my initial responses which was tedious to say the least.

At the end, the website asked me how satisfied I was with the service it has provided. After laughing hollowly, I left this response:

Extremely Dissatisfied
Reason: The kafkaesque and labyrinthine process of reconfirming my eligibility for 30 hours free childcare whilst NOT wanting to enrol in a Tax Free Childcare scheme is utterly bewildering. Seriously, I have a PhD and I had to check on Mumsnet to work out how to manage it. Why did you design such a ridiculously complex system?

It has given me great pleasure to use the words kafkaesque and labyrinthine in the same sentence Grin

Shadowboy · 22/02/2018 21:02

Ooo thanks for this- I wouldn’t have had a clue what to do if it wasn’t for this thread. Now all sorted.

Sickofthisalready · 23/02/2018 08:34

I still can't even get to the page where you have to lie about childcare vouchers!!! I am at the point now where I will have to pay the full amount and claim compensation from Hmrc, which I find utterly ridiculous!

Hi, wanted some advice please.
My husband is working a contract job and is set up as director of his own company.

We have been told we are not eligible for 30 hours and TFC, even tho we are both working.
Mandatory review has been rejected and wanted to know if anyone has been through something similar and can help!

Thanks
