OH's son and numbers

Hi all! Hope someone can help! Me and OH normally have his 6yo son over of a weekend but with the summer holidays coming up OH was thinking it might be nice to spend more time with his son and perhaps have him to stay a couple of days in the week or stay for long weekend. I am hoping to be registered by the summer so my question is, is will OH's son count in my numbers even though he will be the responsibility of OH?

hmm..would you be able to class him as a visitor?..ie, because hes 'officially' your oh's son and not biologically yours, when he comes to 'visit' he is your oh's resposability?as would one of your friends bringing their child round for a play date?, i know time scales is far longer but???

think you should ask ofsted when they come over to inspect you b4 you start minding.
i think it should be ok along as your oh doesnt leave you in sole care of his son if you are up to your numbers
just ask them they really are nice

Tricky one. Years ago, BO (Before Ofsted), Social Services used to give permission for this sort of thing. I remember being told also that I could have another child when my own was a preschool or with hubby and that our own children's friends didn't count in our numbers.

Thats not the case any more - even if husband/partner/mil etc is present to care for your own children we still cannot take another child in their place and I think the same will apply in this case ufortunately. Still I think you'll need to contact Ofsted to check for sure, if they say its okay over the phone or during an inspection, ask them to confirm in writing.

yes but our own children are not counted on our cert so if mine said i could have 4 children under 8 doesnt matter if mine are at school/ on holiday

think its a bit different with a step child that doesnt live with you and mostly visits at the weekend (out of childminding hours)

would deff check
