Early-hours childcare - any ideas?

Hello, I’m planning to take up a job which involves early starts and my husband already leaves early each day. We may both have to be out of the house by 5.30-6.30am. Obviously this is a big problem for childcare - has anyone been in a similar position? Or have any advice about early-hours childcare? Ideally I guess we would find someone who could come at that time then drop the two kids (one and three) at nursery. Thanks!

You'll need someone live in.

There are childminders that will start that early, not many but some do. You would probably be charged extra for anti-social hours

Thanks! Live-in isn’t an option as we don’t have a spare room. Does anyone know of any good agencies to try??

How about asking one (or two) of the nursery workers? You're probably going to have to check some decent money at the problem as there won't be many people who want to get up at 4.30 every morning to get to you for 5.30am.

which? 5.30 or 6.30? It's a huge difference. most households are up and about by 6.30, so finding a childminder might not be a problem if you're willing to pay more for that hour. Finding someone to take at 5.30 would, I think, be much harder.

When I was a teenager I did this for my friends sister
I got her children up and gave them breakfast and took them to school
It's more of a nanny role than a childminder role, I feel and you may be able to find someone to do this if you advertise on your local Facebook groups
