Hello all.

Long time no talk all. Have been checking what has been going on.

After my time out from chilcare due to personal circumstances i have decided to go back into workign with children and i have been granted an interview on Friday Morning for a nursery.

Does anyone have sample interview questions for a nursery that i could help to prepare myself on?

Have already checked OFSTED Report.

How different are the interviews you do for nursery that you have for minding?

Any other tips for preparing, I think a childcare interview will be alot different to an office interview.

I dont have much access to internet at the moment so please post away and i wil reply when next on.
Much appreciated.

How are things with you? I have been observing and still meeting up with some members!

Alas I don't.

What position within the nursery? Nursery Assistant, Room Leader, Deputy Manager, Manager, other?

Would suggest that you read up on:
EYFS
Birth 2 Three Matters and Foundation Stage Curriculum

Be enthusiastic at the interview, take interest when looking around the nursery and chat to some staff if possible (typically you get a guided tour, so I found, before the more formal interview in the office).

Also may want to read up on the Full Day Care Standards, as they differ a little from Childminding Standards.

nannynick, can I just say you really have a lot of great knowledge us childcare workers can use and you always come across here as very professional and someone who loves their work!

just thought I'd tell you that!

looneytune · 11/04/2007 20:26

Hello you. Sorry, just seen this, been at the park all afternoon then dinner, cleaning....yawn, yawn.

Thought I'd post on here in case it's better than email? So pleased they offered an interview!!! Do you want that birth to three matters stuff we talked about? Let me know if you do. I've got a new baby starting tomorrow but you are more than welcome to come round and go through it

nannynick · 11/04/2007 20:39

jellyjelly, do I get the impression you are local to me (berkshire area?) Are you willing to say which nursery interview is at? Never know I may know the nursery, having temped in quite a few over the years.

looneytune · 11/04/2007 20:40

Nannynick - i'll text and try and find out as yes, she's in the same town as me

babydales · 12/04/2007 08:52

I have actually interviewed for nursery staff and the sort of questions we asked were 'what sort of experience do you have'? that sort of thing and then we asked the candidate to tell us of a particular activity that they did with the children that both they and the children enjoyed. Hope it goes well.

looneytune · 12/04/2007 17:42

Nannynick, the nursery is in Reading but I don't want to say where without JellyJelly's permission. Email me if you've temped at any and I will say where this one is.

JellyJelly, in case you read this before the interview - GOOD LUCK

jellyjelly · 12/04/2007 19:53
