Backup/out of hours childcare

I quite like a nursery that is close to me however the hours are 8am-6pm and I work in the city so leave home around 7am and get back around 7pm. I'm hoping I can work out a flexible arrangement so I'm working from home 2 days a week. For the other three days DH could do drop offs and pick ups. DH works from home most of the time however he also travels abroad around 4 times a year for two weeks and needs to go into the office from time to time for meetings (no fixed schedule for this). I'm just wondering how we would manage the times when both of us need to be in the office. The nursery has mentioned some parents using a childminder for drop offs/ picks ups. A colleague of mine also used to do this. However I wonder whether childminders are happy to make themselves available with only a day or twos notice.
I could also consider a nanny (just about affordable) however I do like the activities and socialising aspect of the nursery.
Any advice welcome!

One option could be:
2 days nursery and 3 days childminder but I don't know if a combination would be difficult for the child!

Could you do nanny 3x per week and nursery 2 days per week. But make the nursery days when you work from home. Then when husband is away you've no need to worry about dropping off etc... as nanny will be working the days you're out of the house. You could also look into nanny share if that's more affordable.
Nannies take the children out to groups etc... so they get enough socialising as they need. Little children don't need socialising much anyway (Not that I'm saying nurseries are bad!) Just that if that's why you're going for nursery then try not to worry.
