i rang c.i.s today and they told me that you can look after one or two over your set ratio if they are over 8, butonly if you can show how you will care for and be able to look after eaach child..as i only have one full timer and two part timers under 5, this wont be a prob and they knew nothing re a fee, only that ofsted are sendingmout letters at min and that may be whats in them but no, no fee just yet!

Over 8's fee is voluntary... so not surprised CIS know little about it. There should be more about it come 16th April, when OCR is launched. If you are already registered under Ofsted for under 8's, then nothing is changing, till September 2008.

Care of 8+ must not affect the care of younger children... no mention in National Standards about number of 8+ children. But insurance wise, your insurer may limit the total number of children for whom you can provide care at any one time.

Ofsted Childcare Register - Consultation, see Summary of Results document for fees for voluntary OCR
