Au pair expenses

Hello,

I am trying to understand what the 'done' thing is for Au pair expenses. Our au pair takes my daughter to an all day sports academy in the half term and holidays. So of course I cover their transportation to the place and transportation home. My question is, should I also be paying for the au pair's journey to wherever she is going when she leaves my daughter, and then her journey to the sports academy when she goes to collect her? I have been covering all the travel and it is an awful lot of money spent. Just wondering what everyone else does.

I pay my Aupair as normal in the school holidays - so if she takes them to a sports club (for example) then it would be the equivalent of her taking them to school and picking up. So I pay for the Aupair and the sports club.

Pay whatever it would be as if you were taking her from home. So transportation there and back when she takes her in, and also transportation there and back when you would go to pick her up. Work out what that is then give her that every day.
If the au pair then chooses to go somewhere else instead of back to your home then that is up to her but extra transport costs should be on her. Likewise if she chooses to stay close to the academy to save money, her choice.

What journey is she doing?
Just offer to top up her oyster to the amount needed to take your daughter into her class every day. You could add a little extra to sweeten the deal..

We're not in London anymore, but we supply one tank of petrol for our au pair every month and she supplies the rest.

I would pay 2x return trip home. Whether she actually goes out straight after is up to her...

Out of interest, is travel time from home to pick the child counted as working hours?
