CM Club: Changing your numbers

My cert says I can mind 2 children 0-8yrs (only 1 under 1). This was based on my ds being home and due to the fact that my flat is on the 2nd floor. My ds is now at school full-time, if I apply for a change in my numbers would ofsted just allow me to have 1 more child during school hours while my ds is at school?

If your ds is now a rising 5 or above, just write to them letting them know and they'll add an under 5 to your certificate

If like me you have moved since the certicate was produced, you can ask them to come and see your new house and see if they will allow more children

i just sent ds birth cert (copy) and they sent me a new cert within weeks

I'm still slightly confused!

Because I can only have 2 children (of any age 0-8), plus my ds, it's not like he's changing from an under 5 to an over 5 as far as my numbers go (are you still with me?). So I wondered if they'd change my numbers to 3 children all the time 0-8yrs or whether I'd only be able to have 3 while my ds is at school.

Hmmm, think I should find out from the big '0'!! Although, they'll probably tell me something completly random!!

If your floor space was an issue then I see what you mean. Check with Ofsted.

if your ds is not in full time ed(10 sessions per week-morning and afternon) he is classed as rising 5, meaing he is no longer counted in your ratios, ofsted should change your certificate to say now you can have 3 under 5, unless there was some other reason they wouldnt issue this amount in first place?

mogs0 · 03/04/2007 17:52

They only registered me for 2 (plus ds) because they were concerned about me getting any more children out of the flat as it's on the 2nd floor.

Hmmm, anyway, after the day I've had with 2 bickering toddlers, I don't want anymore!!!!!

have you had your inspection yet?, the one after your pre reg inspection?, cos if you show you are capable of getting three children around(plus one elder one before and after school) they may grant your increase?

Yes, had my insp in November but my ds was still settling into reception so didn't think about it then!!

I have 2 WHOLE DAYS OFF next week so will call Ofsted and see what they say.

anything re this?? my friend is interested in becoming a cm but also lives in a 2nd floor flat.

mogs0 · 06/05/2007 16:42

Goodness no!! I'm far too disorganised!!! My 2 days off came and went. Although, I AM going to write to Ofsted this week and will let you know. The 2 flights of stairs were def an issue for the inspector.
