Hi, I am still quite new to childminding so would appreciate your help.

I mind a 14mth little girl when we set up the contract her mum is a student rather than employed so her timetable varies and she also does placements in the hospital so we agreed a minimum hours and that she would let me know each weeks hours a week in advance.

I was supposed to have her from 7.45am today but she text me at 7.45 to say she wouldnt be bringing her until 9am today, do I still charge from 7.45 as that was the booked time or do I just charge for hours needed??

Sorry this is a bit long winded but needed to explain the background, thanks.

Oh definitely charge from original time!! I quite often get late drop off's and even if I get a text/email the night before, it's normal charge!

Yes, definitely - it's the contracted time. I always have my mindee arrive late (supposed to be here at 7 and today, STILL not here) and I will be charging from 7.

Thing is, I was up and ready for them then..

different story if she had text you on fri with new hours but texting you at the time the child should have arrived would make me charge from 7.45am

Earthymama · 26/03/2007 10:18

From 7.45 definately. Make it clear that you will need advance notice or you'll be ready, to work as you were today and therefore, will charge for those hours.

yes, she pays for contracted hours, you are available and cou,ld not possibly fill that gap..same as sickness how, parents pay full fee.

Thanks everyone, thought I should charge as I was up and ready for her arrival at 7.45am, she actually arrived at 9.30 in the end!!
