Hi Everyone,

As some of you know I have just had my fingers burnt so to speak so I am checking this out with all of you before I do anything!!

I need to ring a mum who has specified an interest in her son coming to me on a m, t & w - he is 16 months. This works quite well as I have a one year old who comes to me on a T & F.

Anyway its them days to start with a view to maybe more........

I have found the NCMA contract and no wonder I thought it wasnt suitable before, I didnt realise it had three parts...crumbs sometimes I do really wonder about myself!!

Does that cover everything I will need?

What questions should I be asking this afternoon when I call....

When contract to commence?
Settling in times?
food - do they wish to provide tea for example and I do lunch/snacks or what??
One day is till 8pm, do I charge 1.5 for that past 5.30pm?

I am sure there is a mine field of info I should be asking and I would really appreciate your help.

P.S My mum is out of intensive care (again) but last night we didnt have a "touch and go" moment for the first night in 3, so hopefully fingers crossed she is on the up....the nurses in Intensive Care were calling her the comeback kid!!

Thanks for all your help

Good news about your Mum. I think 5.30 is early to start on 1.5 personally - I think you should leave it til 6.

StrawberrySnowflakes · 08/03/2007 15:43

glad your mum is better fingers crossed she keeps getting well

i have an 'information about a minded child' form, i may have even got it from someone on here, dont remember what was mine or not these days..any way it has questions about likes/dislikes, other contacts, routines etc..i can email it too you if you like??

reg hours i charge £3 8.30-5.30, then £4 5.30-6.30, then £5.50 after 6.30 (as i class that as overnight care)BUT for a part timer i charge £4 standard time, £5 after 5.30 and so on like that.. if they are with me the full day i include morning and afternoon snack and lunch, evening meals are extra(and i charge dependant on age as babies will eat less than a four year old)

I also allow 3 settling in sessions, each of up to 1 hour prior to child coming and the first 4 weeks after they start is sort of probation, so i can or they can say its not working..after that is standard contract.

these are only my ideas and may not work for you, but if i can help in any way, just say

madge7 · 08/03/2007 15:49

I am so scared of doing it right this time

StrawberrySnowflakes · 08/03/2007 18:40

hiya chick, have emailed one of my sheets over to you

looneytune · 08/03/2007 18:54

You can charge what you want when you want but to give you another idea, I charge $3.80 an hr between 8-6 and $4.20 outside these hours. I don't charge for food/drink apart from if they are having an evening meal, then I charge $1.50 per meal.

I personally have a bit written into the contract that states a fee for late payment and also for late collection/early drop off. Never actually charged, just wanted it in there. I wish I had charged to start with though as the mindee who has just left started being collected nearer 7pm a lot (instead of 6.30) and it really affected my evenings!

You'll also need permission forms for all sorts incl. taking photos (some say ok but maybe don't want on my website or something), outings, suncream etc.

Shosha - would you be so kind as to email me those bits you mentioned? I've been doing this nearly 2 yrs now but as got new vacancies for the first time in ages, I've decided to have a total re-think about certain things.

So sorry, pressed post too early! Hope your mum gets better soon. I know how it feels when parents know that you have this going on and don't show any concern. My dad has just come out of hospital and I was worried when he was in, still waiting for results of something I really hope he hasn't got but chances are he'll be fine. I reallY hope your mum is too!

SHOSHAlee · 08/03/2007 19:03

looneytune · 08/03/2007 19:05
