My rather lovely nanny found out she was unexpectedly pregnant. And I’ve just found out the due date. Happy for her, but I’m having ‘a moment’ about childcare now. She’s due in 3 months, she’s worked for me for about 5 months. There’s a four week window where she could go into labour. Plus she will need time off after giving birth. DS2 is due to start nursery in September. We haven’t talked about time off or double buggies or anything. Where to start?

I'm not really hung up on whether she knew she was pregnant or not. It is what it is, and doesn't change anything.

If I knew I was pregnant, I would still go for a job if it would benefit my family.

Her eldest and my eldest are in the same class at school. So the tricky thing is arranging the new childcare sensitively.

This is my third nanny who has moved on in 18 months. One got priced out of the area renting and had to move out, one (the horrible one) who my husband felt sorry for, moved country...

I'm getting in touch with a childminder at the moment.

Well said, OP.

I thought I posted ages ago - OP you're a better woman than I am. Well done.
