(NVQ work)

I haven't had my NVQ head on now for about 8 months, coupled with the fact that I don't have under 8's anymore so this isn't entirely relevant! Argh.

Suggestions? Examples? Please?

Short term - today (using BTW it will be child led - so RA about when I did this because little Y brought in a XXXXX)

Medium Term - week to half term (refer to BT3 and use lots of examples of how you will work to the elements etc)

Long term - WOrking towards the principles of BT3 & the general development of the child by using child led activities & extending them

(that's what I did ...I think)

LTP - What stepping stones/ELGs you plan to cover over the coming year, relevant to themes throughout the year.

MTP - Taking the SS/ELGs you plan to cover over the course of the half term/month

STP - Weekly, activities/opportunities you are planning to provide for the children, based on the theme, the children's observations, needs and interests, with specific SS or ELGs relevant to the area of learning you wish to cover.

Focus Activity plans tend to cover specific daily activities - those you are carrying out for observation purposes.

I'm sure someone will correct me if Im wrong but this is how I did it when I did my training.

For Birth to Three, you should only be using STPs as its all about planning for children's needs and interests and you will not know what these are going to be from year to year or month to month.

Hope this helps!

That was much better expalined than mine

Lazylou · 02/03/2007 22:26

I've been writing about planning just now on one of my degree assignments so it was pretty fresh in my head

Katymac · 02/03/2007 22:28

I caused Havoc by doing my NVQ on BT3 despite it being the old NVQ which should have been Foundation stage

But I passed

Lazylou · 02/03/2007 22:30

I did the old NVQ too and started off on FS and then ended up doing it on BTTM. I have to sy though, I did find it harder doing BTTM than FS. It helped though as I've been with babies and toddlers pretty much since I qualified with the exception of my current job and another pre-school job!

Lunavix, I can send you an example of Birth to Three Focus Activity Planning if you want it. It's a bit vague but the headings make it self-explanatory

lunavix · 02/03/2007 22:34

Oh thanks that would be great. dark willow girl @ yahoo .co . uk

I knew the date ranges etc short term = day to week etc

I just can't think of an example.

Uh KM - what's BTW and RA?

I need to have a big chat with my tutor tomorrow - the next 3 sections are focussed on nursery staff (my course has been designed for nursery/preschool, I'm the only CM to ever do it by our company)

and now I've only got the over 7s the subjects they focus on aren't relevant

It's done

Katymac · 03/03/2007 07:02

BTW = mistype BT3
RA = Reflective Account (about 50% of my NVQ was reflective accounts)

lunavix · 03/03/2007 13:26

thanks both of you!

I've got a new worry now but I've plonked it under student parents I imagine that's more appropriate
