Completely o/t: World Book day dress up

My sons school very kindly gave us no notice to dress up tomorrow for World Book Day - needs to be from a traditional story (whatever that means).

Any ideas - I figured I would ask you lot as you are so creative! Whereas I am hopelessly not.

Help!

Traditional means not power rangers, spiderman, batman or any costume you can buy in Asda.

Charlie Bucket or Oliver Twist is easy - send him in in clothes that fitted him 2 years ago and he has absolutely wrecked. Smudge dirt on his face and don't comb his hair.

send him as scarecrow from wizard of oz, with smaller torn clothes and and old wedding hat thats been trampled on???..yeah i know, im crap at this

oh crap!, just told when picking dd up today, we have to get them dressed up tomorrow!!!

crace · 01/03/2007 13:42

I ended up doing Oliver twist (thanks for that!!) - I put him in jeans that were too short and had holes in the knees already, and a old fashiony looking jumper that was too small and tatty - then took black make up paint and splotched it all over his face to look like dirt.

Hey presto! Oliver twist
