Hi Ajj - I'm over by Acle....don't know where NR9 is

How's it going?

ShowOfHands · 18/02/2007 12:03

My baby's not due for another 10 weeks but will eventually be looking for a childminder around this area.

How soon in advance to parents usually approach you regarding places? I'm a bit new to all this! Actually, I haven't started to think about it at all. Any advice?

Katymac · 18/02/2007 12:16

Showofhands, I'd get in touch with Ajj, you can meet her and see what she is offering & if she has any spaces. Will you be going back to work soon? Or not for a while, if it's a long way off you might need to pay a retainer to keep the place open.

I'd also visit some other minders to get an idea of what you like and want

There is a list of questions you might want to ask I'll start a thread with them on.

ShowOfHands · 18/02/2007 12:44

Thanks Katymac. I'm not sure at all how it works- first baby! I have so many ridiculous questions ie what happens if I need 2 days one week and four the next (DH works funny shifts)? Do I pay for a ft place?

I can't even choose a bloomin' cot.

Katymac · 18/02/2007 12:46

Don't worry - did you see the questions?

I think you would have to pay for variable shifts otherwise you wouldn't be a very attractive proposition

What sort of hours are you looking for?
If we get an idea on here then ajj would be able to say if she were interested or not - without that awkward phone call

ShowOfHands · 18/02/2007 13:12

Probably 9am-4pm Mondays-Fridays but the number of days would vary depending on DH. Sometimes three days a week, sometimes 4, sometimes 5.

I'm not an attractive proposition in so many ways right now.

Hi Katymac, NR9 - Hingham, Close to Dereham & Watton area.
New to CM, have been working in a nursery & have a 4 yr old daughter.
ShowOfHands, I currently have vacancies, have you any idea as to how long you are taking off work?
As Katymac said you would need to pay a retainer.
I am happy to meet & discuss things with you.

What sort of frequency are the shifts

equal numbers of 3 days, 4 days & 5 days

Is it an 8 weeks rota by any cnahce I have lots of experience of those

Katymac · 18/02/2007 13:54

Ajj & Showofhands - sorry if i am interferring but some times a 3rd person can be fairer than the people involved

ajj · 18/02/2007 14:03

Katymac, fine with me. Helpful input appreciated.
