I've been offered a job as a nanny/mothers help 2 evenings a week. I'm going to meet the family tomorrow and we haven't discussed money yet. I will be helping with tea, bathtime, bed time, things like that. I expect it will lead on to babysitting too once the mum gets to know me.

I am a qualified NNEB nursery nurse with 12 plus years of childcare experience (not working with kids at the moment) Am a bit unsure what to charge her though.

Anyone got any ideas on a suitible hourly rate? (for me and her)

Thank you.

Depends on where your are?

Would think it will be pretty similar to your day rate - maybe a bit more for evenings/few hours?

I'm in rural Devon. I don't have a day rate because I'm not working with kids as my main job. I used to be a nanny years ago but worked in nurseries untill I left childcare three years ago. Therefore I'm a bit out of the loop!

check on local nanny/childcare websites for average charges?
