I am a CM and we have put a CCTV camera over the front door so I can see how is there before answering so not leaving mindees unattended if only a salesman, do you think its OTT? Please be honest wont be offended. We live on a busy road that people walk along all the time btw

Would have expected that there would be other ways of telling who was at the door without a CCTV tbh. I usually look out of the window. If they happen to notice that I've looked and I still don't answer the door, then they usually get the hint.

what about a peephole instead that you can look outside?
seems a bit ott

i think most parents would prefer cm's to be over cautious rather than taking any risks with their lo's. what sort of feedback have you had from parents, have they suggested it is ott or are they happy with it?

i suppose it is how they feel and how you feel about that matters

i DONT think u are being ott
If u want CCTV Y not??
i personally NEVER answer the door if minding as i know what times parents are due and if times charge they know to phone!

It could even be a "selling point" for why people should use your childminding service, as access to your home is more secure.

There are some rules about CCTV usage, so depending how sophisticated your camera is, you may need to register your installation and comply with basic rules regarding who has access to the images. ICO.gov.uk - CCTV Information

Do you think it counts as I dont actually record the image just flick it on the tv to see who is at the door?
