newish childminder finding it hard to get mindees

Hi i've been minding for nearly a year now and until december was happy with mindees,but full timer moved so i have half place and full time under 5 to fill and its soo quiet! ANY suggestions???

What have you tried already?
Do you go to toddler groups etc? Getting out and about and meeting people is a good way of getting work though word of mouth, tell all and sundry what you do.
Go to soft play places and do the same there ask if you can leave flyers or business cards.

There is an advertising thread on here somewhere with loads of ideas.

must be a shortage of kiddies in herts at the mo cause im struggling too!
am advertising everywhere and i mean EVERYWHERE!!

Hi i go to ncma group and mum and toddlers and have got details at local school. Also how much do you think it is fair to charge?

im in st albans and charge £4.25 per hour.

I'm currently charging £3.75 hour but one thing i did do was for term time only i didn,t charge retainer for hoildays so i,m going to be even more skint in the hoildays!!!!

hi,

I posted the same message on this site maybe a week ago, I am now fully booked, (only temporary, but still happy with that). I advertised on netmums too for my area and got an enquiry that I had to turn down as someone else had already contacted me.....now I am so busy I dunno what to do with myself, hehehehehe!!! Thanks to everyone last week for all your help, my DH is well impressed and I am so proud of myself too!! teehee!

What are you hoping for? I have had a few 'baby' enqiries that i have turned down on the phone,
1.because she wanted the same days as my other under one and

  1. because my 18mth old might feel bombarded with babies so now hoping for new mindies age 1+ so he has a play mate!
I can pass these calls onto you if i get anymore? Are you in Pinehurst? I am at the back in the 3 storey houses.

Yes i,m on the estate. Babys would be great , i have a full time under 5 place and 2 days for an under 5. In the day i only have 3 yr old mon,wed,thurs NEVER thought i would say it but i'm a bit bored and lost without mindees !!Only my ds and he doesn't like to be cuddled all day !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think it is in a village south of Hitchin, I guess it depends on where you live.

I am a childminder in shepperton and have a vacancy to fill. Can anybody help me to fill it. I haven't had a single enquiry since december, it has been so quiet. I have checked with childcarelink and my details are still on the website. has anybody else been having problems filling vacancies in thi area. It's so fustrating
