My dd is 8 months & I amconsidering either nursery or child minder 2 mornings a week.

At present she only spends time with me all day everyday, and dh for a short time in the evening & weekends. We both live away from our families. Only a few close friends in this area, not all with kids. So except 'Baby Signing' doesn't really interact with other kids/adults. She has had one creche session of 30 mins. I take her swimming, we play, read together & go to the park & for long walks. We have visited my parents once a month every month since she was born. I left dd with my mum when I went to hairdressers. After 1.5 hours she began to get very upset. Am I worring about nothing?

Hi, I am a childminder in St Albans. Your daughter is at the classic age where separation anxiety sets in, it is a normal development stage. She has not learned to transfer her trust to another carer yet, and does not understand that you will come back soon.

When I take on a new baby, I always hope to have them before they are 6 months as it is always easier to settle them in.

It can be quite hard for you, but your baby will begin to settle, the more you leave her.

elliesmum, plaese dont worry yourself over this,it is perfectly normal.

im a childminder in redbourn,st albans and
last year i settled in 6 month old twins that had not been left before coming to me and it just takes time, care and patience and it all works out in the end! they now are happy settled and enjoying their time with me,although sadly they leave me tomorrow as they are emigrating
however that does mean i have a vacancy,if you are looking?!

Thanks Alibubbles I'll have look & so will my dh.
Thanks smeeinit, sadly I don't drive so it would have to be within walking distance, or on route for my dh who has car.
