Help needed in May after new baby arrives

I am pondering the thought that I may need some help when our new baby arrives in May. We already have a daughter who will be 22 months by then. At the moment she is at nursery two days a week however I am debating whether it may be more useful to use the money I spend on this to employ someone for around 4-5 hours a day 3-4 days a week to help with both children and allow me to get some rest where possible. Is this classed as a mothers help? or do I need a Nanny? Can anyone recommend a good place to look- I am based in North London. Also no idea of the cost- any advice? Can i employ someone for 3-6 months? Do i need to give them holiday pay etc as you do with childminders. Not sure about the whole thing so any help gratefully accepted.

Hello.

Yes, this would be a mothers help. It sounds like a good idea to me.

I would start with an ad on gumtree. You can hire someone for any length of time you wish. Irecommend a fixed term contract. You do have to give them holiday and bank holidays. But, I'm puzzled by the childminder comment because you don't have to pay them for hols -- but I know some do ask for it.
