My cm's having a baby ... am I happy or sad?!?!

My cm told me before Christmas that she's pregnant with her second. Mostly I am really excited for her/looking out all my stuff (her girl is 5, so she's up for some new stuff!) but she's planning to take only 8 weeks off, and I'm a little concerned that I wouldn't have been able to cope with a 3 yo and a 1 yo (ds & dd) with a few week old baby ... although obviously, I'm no professional . Has anyone else been in this situation - how have you found it?
If we do decide to change, I want to give her as much notice as possible so want to try & decide soonish (although am not known for my decisiveness!!)
Ta muchly

Sosha - good point, although In a funny way, I think I'd be less concerned if it was someone else's baby ... as that wouldn't be keeping her up all night & messing with her hormones too!

Do your dc s go to her full time? maybe she cant afford to take anymore than that off. She must be pretty confident that she will cope, both mine were sleeping from midnight till 6am from 6 weeks so maybe she is hoping for one like that!!!!! I would maybe have a back up plan for incase she changes her mind, you never know shemight have a hard time giving birth/with her dd and the baby, good luck

No they're only their 2 days a week - so hopefully she'll get a break on the other days ...I know her first daughter didn't sleep through til 18 mths or so...!! But yes, suspect it's a financial decision for her - but she went back to work after 4 weeks with her first dd

I have a ds of nearly 3, and I've been CM since before he turned 1.

I had 2 and a half weeks off after having dd... (and also 5 days off before due to going overdue)

I coped. It was easier as I too wasn't full time, having said that for the October halfterm and some days around Christmas I was full time for school cover...

If she's happy, then be happy for her.
