I have a job interview tommorrow - very short notice. Its an hour plus travel time but i have tried all my normal options and have NO childcare?!?

Any suggestions?

If you were a reasonably good aquintance/friend of another mum (been to party at her house, go to same playgroup once a week for 6 months)how would you feel if she begged a favour of minding her kid for the interview - i'd offer to pay/ return the favour!

Where are you? I have space tomorrow if you're anywhere near cambridge. my Site

I'm sure most mums would normally be happy to help as a one-off, on the understanding they'll get free childcare in return. However, this week people may have plans for last minute christmas shopping, visiting relatives etc..so people may not be available.

Have you tried all the local childminders? As we often take part time children, this does leave gaps which coudl be filled at short notice. www.childcarelink.gov.uk

You could try

It wont hurt to ask other mum...all she can say is yes or no. Good luck tomorrow.

YEs, I like the childminder option for last minute care. You can get emergency nannies, but they cost a fortune and you don't really know them. Whereas with a childminder, you know she's registered and shee looks after kids every day so she obviously knows what she is doing.

did you get sorted?..did the interveiw go well?

had to rearrange it - couldn't get any childcare at all so had to put it off til new year. It was for a supply teaching agency but it means i won't be on their books for anything in the first few weeks of term next year.
