f-t school on the horizon - is our idea for nanny fair?

dd2 will go from pt to ft school in january. at the moment we have a nanny 3 days a week, she has 2 childless hours each day during which she does the ironing and cleaning (both of which were always part of her job from the beginning). during the school holidays she does those 6 hours ironing and cleaning on another day ie does different hours in term time and holidays. she gets paid an average amount - ie the same - every week. when dd goes f-t we were thinking of asking her to do the cleaning on one day and then saying that the other two she's free to do whatever whilst the girls are at school (including another job if she likes - though would have to be term-time only) but to ask her to do one night a fortnight baby-sitting instead. is that a fair proposal?

So she's paid for 3 full days, does nursery duties on one, has 2 days free of work 9-330pm, and babysits once a fortnight?

Can I work for you?

Very fair.

it's more than nursery duties - it's the whole house and all the ironing - but as I say that was always part of her job, so it's not like we're changing the nature of the job

sounds very fair to me!

i would be happy with that.....

tho would she be on call on those 2 days for if child is sick? or not.... if so then she cant really work else where

also if child was v ill and she did work... maybe u could cancel babysits that fortnight (only mentioned cause a few years back my 11 year old charge waas v ill.... 1 week ill at home... 2 weeks in hospital, then another 5 weeks at home before back to school!)

I wouldnt mention another job . But what about the cleaning in the holidays will she not have to do it . I think you are being very fair.

cleaning in the hols would need to be same as currently - ie she comes in on an extra day.

I think you need to make it very clear about coming in on an extra day in holidays .But still fair .
