Another au pair/car/fuel question

So having finally sorted insurance for our au pair on our car I wanted to ask what people do about fuel allowance. Our golf is pretty cheap to run and tbh her usage in terms of her job will be minimal. But we live in a medium sized visage so this is to give her a bit more freedom and also enable her to get to college.

How do other families work out a fuel allowance - is the deal you pay for it all, or
Do you just cover what is related to her job/college course and she pays for additional personal usage?

Thanks!

My situation is slightly different in that my au pair has exclusive use of the car. But I pay for one tank (30L) of fuel a month anything beyond that they need to pay for.

I pay for it all.

Sorry - would have been helpful to add that we only have one car, so ours is shared use. I just fill it up when empty. I wouldn't start charging her back for the miles she had done on her own account (not sure I could be arsed to work it out anyway, its not that much, she doesn't go off on long jaunts in it, its only general knocking about).

I also pay for one tank of fuel a month, our au pair also has mainly sole use of the car. I suggest to them in the handbook that they ask friends for petrol money if she's taking them anywhere.

We just fill it up. Our au pair doesn't go that far, and it's a fairly economical car so it doesn't seem worth our while working out what is his mileage and what is our mileage. On the occasions when he has gone away for the weekend with his friends, they have hired a car between them because we have two family cars and it's likely that the both H and I would need to use a car at the same time because the DC often go to different activities/parties.
