Hi smeeinit: I have been childminding for two years but have not increased my charges as yet. I charge £5ph (average for my area) and feel that is a very fair hourly rate but am apprehensive about charging more because for some parents, especially for those who use me for 3 full days a week, works out to quite alot of money

I put my rates up annually each September.

I usually put mine up by around 15p/hour, although it has been more previously when all the newly-registered minders were charging more! I tend to find out what the average rate is in my area.

I've been reg 3 years and charged £3 per hour. This April 06 any new children that came their prices where £3.50 in line with the other childminders in my area.

As I'm on a RAF camp people come and go regualy dur to moving in and out. So for me it was my jack way of avoiding putting fees up to old parents, up until August I had one child on £3 but they moved away on a lovley posting but knew if they'd stayed April 07 their prices would have gone up in line with the other children in my care

waffle on sorry hehe
