Inspection myths...

Hi

I am due my first Ofsted inspection since registration 5 months ago soon. One of my childminder friends told me that Ofsted can only give you a 'satisfactory' grade if you have not been registered for a year.

However... I also had a visit from the council who had not heard of this and said that they thought you would be graded regardless. Seems a bit bad to be stuck with that if you are actually better than satisfactory until your next inspection?

I did call Ofsted and they said that someone would call me back...

Just wondering if anyone knows?

Ooo and any tips or warnings for inspections would be very much appreciated!

One of the childminders a friend is supporting and has only been minding 6 months got an outstanding, and there was another one in Who Minds? who had been minding less than a year.

I agree with the others your friend is mistaken, but if you are not minding children at the time of your inspection,it is usually only possible to be graded as satisfactory as you are not being observed working with children, maybe thats what your friend meant
