I have just started childminding in September this year. I am using the NCMA Accounts book. Just wondering when i need to change to a new book with regards to the end of the tax year. I need to know when to total up my earnings/expenses. Thanks

Just checked this with DH - he is a tax advisor. You can choose to have your year end whenever you lie, so could do a whole year from when you started working, but it is easier to have 31 March as year end, so you do a short 'year' this year HTH

I agree with PandaG - just do a short year - then do it in April every year

thanks for your help. When do you actually submit your figures to HM Revenue and Customs?

If you have registered as self employed you should get a self assessment form in April - however it might be worth a phone call so that you get a "short" self assessment form (as your income is less than £15K)
