Hi, not sure this is the best place for this question but there's not a childminders section. What's the going hourly rate for childminders in Surrey/SW London? I mean looking after children in their home, not mine. Any input welcome. Thanks.

I am in Surrey and pay £4 per hour for one child and £6 per hour for two siblings. I have absolutely no idea whether this is the going rate, though ... my childminder is a friend and extremely flexible so I'll pay pretty much whatever she asks within reason!

You could ask the question on some of the Mumsnet Local SW London sites including the Merton & Wimbledon one.

Good luck with your quest!

My friend in Guildford pays £6.50ph which sounds about right relative to London & other commuter areas.

I'm on the Surrey/SW London borders. The going rate where I live is roughly £6-6.50/hour.

SW London. I pay 6 pounds per hour. But most around me pay a little more. Some pay up to 10 but that I think is a joke. Most nurseries are 70-80 pounds per day for the same hours.

Just In Surrey £7 an hour standard for round here.

SW London. Pay £70pd so just over £7ph. Don't pay her holidays though and includes all food and activities.

Surrey/SW London: £4 for one, £7 for two. Lovely childminder, only half a dozen or so at a time.

CloserToFiftyThanTwenty · 05/08/2015 22:47

£6.50 per hour plus £2 pick up and sometimes something extra for food is fairly standard

Thanks, really helpful.
