Getting an au pair - what do I need to know?

I am getting our first au pair in September. I have found one on au pair world. What do I need to do and know before he starts?

Well as you have 'found one' I assume you have emailed, interviewed and skyped him already and you're happy that he's enthusiastic about being around kids and becoming part of your family. And in return you are equally excited about having someone coming to live with you and you're all looking forward to his arrival.

Do you have a contract stating pay, work expectations, holiday, house rules, etc?
