What's the exclusion period for tonsillitis?

^^ just as title says really?
And is it contagious? I'm reading things online but I've read conflicting information!

I have a child who I sent home early on Monday and Tuesday, and doc has now prescribed antibiotics and said its tonsillitis, child is off today, should they be off tomorrow as well?

There is no exclusion limit just send them when they are up to it x

The setting I used said that if a child was prescribed ABs they should stay off for a minimum of the first 24 hours of taking them.

www.gpnotebook.co.uk/simplepage.cfm?ID=x20091213195939182440 Some guidance for GPs here that looks sensible.

Yes auntiestella I implement that rule at here to but I was thinking as to whether I suggest that mom keeps DC at home tomorrow as well, however from looking at that link it seems a little severe to say that now

As part of a Policy Document either include NHS.org exclusion guidelines for child illness or e-mail them within a newsletter. That way everyone including yourself will be aware.
