One of my good friends (who's wedding we are going to next year) has been asked to change from part time assistant to full time manager..she has asked grandparents to help out with her youngest who will be going to school half days in feb but they wont.so..................shes lovely and so much fun, i think she'#ll be just the right mix for dd and current mindee!

just hope Ofsted get their finger out otherwise ill have to do this free as well so as not to lose her!

good luck!!

Don't work for nothing if Ofsed find out they'll rap you. Before the summer I had 9 to take to school 3 under 5's, 3 5-8s and 3 over 8's someone reported me for going over number (all be it I was well withing due to the ages!!!), if it gets reported and the child is named I wouldn't want to think what they might do.

I would like to know who reported me though - I admit though I would have looked twice at me during that time ( a childminder gave up and left the 3 older kids in the lurge for 2 months before the moved to middle school)

don't mean to put a downer, but just so you know as it is stated not to go over even if you are waiting for a change in numbers from them

babyfox, strawberry can care for the kiddies without being registered if shes not being paid cant she? thats what ive always believed to be true.

CwmbranChildminder · 01/11/2006 14:47

I thought if u were not charging it was ok babyfox

Couple of CM's on here are doing it

StrawberryMoon · 01/11/2006 16:00

????i was told is was fine to do it this way otherwise i wouldnt have done it cos i wouldnt do anything to jepordise my registration.
CCp told me i would have to explain to parents i was just basically a babysitter like a member of family and i wouldnt be insured?..even though i have my ncma insurance now, it wouldnt count as im not reg.
but, yes have been told by them and others its fine????...got me worried now tho!

sorry to cause a stir, I was under the impression that unless you looked after children under 2 hours a day you couldn't work as a childminder.

On my ICP course the lady said looking after children before was a no go because your 'reward' was getting the children onto a contract when you get regs.

P.s I was unaware you weren't reg yet as you said about another mindie

I don't want to worry anyone, I'll take a look on the Standards and find out ho hum

sorry if upset anyone - just joined here don't kick me off !!!!

BabyFox · 01/11/2006 16:57

Just put in unreg childminders into google, lots of stuff backing up what I'm saying

feel really bad now sorry

lemonaidtreasonandplot · 01/11/2006 17:15

OFSTED themselves (possibly more relevant than Google ) say:

Anyone paid or rewarded in kind for looking after children under eight, for more than two hours daily on domestic premises, must register with us as a childminder.

i.e. if not paid then there's no problem so far as OFSTED are concerned

BabyFox · 01/11/2006 17:55

okay
