Au pair world - offering the job

We have skyped a few lovely candidates and when following up afterwards for more info (prior to job offer) they have told me they have accepted job offers from other families in the small amoutn of time there was between the call and the email. For the lovely au pairs out there in high demand are you supposed to offer them the role there and then on the skype call before someone else snaps them up ? Not sure how the process seems to work - other than it all seems to happen very quickly !

Things do move fairly fast, I would usually SKYPE all applicants over one weekend Friday eve - Monday am and then get back to them by Monday afternoon.

Of course it could be just an excuse and maybe there's something in the job that doesn't appeal.

Possibly something does not appeal, yes, or maybe its that I am not offering an ensuite and we are au pauir first timers that could be off putting ? Who knows .. I just feel like I have been gazumped !

Lovely - I send potentials a fact sheet before I interview with sample schedule, stuff about the area, the house, their room, what we expect, salary and perks. That way I don't waste time interviewing people who aren't interested.

Do you live in London or any other biggish city? Aupairs tend to prefer those areas.

Love the fact sheet idea, will put one together. Thanks

We live in a town on the outskirts of london, maybe location is a factor that's important too. Just feel very rejected as got such good feedback during the calls!
