rang gp today to find out if they sent extra info to ofsted..NO!..just typed up today..but okay as expected..prob is..the extra info they wanted was 1:when i took a bunch of tablets when i was 16, 2: when i admitted my father had been sexually abusing me in 1995 and 3: my postnatal depresion.

doc has said im fine and said she has no doubt about my ability..but..very uneasy as to the reason and area they are asking about

Does Ofsted know about this then??
They are usually quite good as problems in the past are fine if you show that you have got over them.

same as hmo2 thought you were already registered?

StrawberryFULLMoonOWOWOWWWWWWW · 25/10/2006 16:27

no, im helping out mindee's mum for free as i didnt want to lose a full time place.
she drops her off mainly as and when she needs too.
originally i thought it would be one or two weeks and its now dragging on and im getting no where and no money

Ofsted do know i was abused and that i had PND and i think the overdose was also brought up at same time but cant be sure??(told my inspector and she said this was good then if anything came up she could say 'oh i know'....but seems like theyre linking the three together and feel the brick wall between me and CM is becoming thicker

god poor you,what a situation.
firstly i dont think your depression or abuse should or will affect your registration it just may take a little longer.
i really wouldnt worry too much and im sure had you not have been up front and honest then ofsted may have beeen a bit unsure. imo your honesty should be applauded, none of those 3 things are easy to admit to or talk about and i think you are doing wonderfull.

StrawberryFULLMoonOWOWOWWWWWWW · 25/10/2006 19:14

thanks..just cant remember if i mentioned taking the paracetamol??..when i talk about that time in my life i kind of go on auto pilot..so really cant remember??

couldnt really be a nanny as i have dd after pre school every afternoon, plus we bought this house for the extra playroom and have spen a fortune on toys, safety so on..plus childminding is really what i want to do..the variety, lots of little ones and their funny phrases..just hate the thought of my shitty childhood or more importantly, my bastard of a father stopping me from doing this now after all this time

BTW HappyMumOf2..its really ok...it doesnt affect me daily like it used too hence me being annoyed that it may effect my chances at becoming reg

Just wanted to say that I took an overdose when I was 16 but had no problems becoming a registered childminder 4 years later. My g.p said I was fine to do the job and that was that.

StrawberryFULLMoonOWOWOWWWWWWW · 25/10/2006 19:47

thanks nutcracker..but for you.
did they request more info from your gp when dealing with registration?

i've had a simlar experience and its worked out fine, it did take a long time though. ofsted visited me in jan 2006 and sent me to see a consultant about my mental state (i tried to od when i was 18 with severe pnd and was in an abusive relationship, ex also involved social services but that didnt go anywhere as they could see i was caring for my dd1 well) anyway i went to see them in march and was reg by end of april. i hope its quicker for you! i had to take on a pt job, eves and weekends which i only gave up in sept and i've had 1 ft'er since june so that was really hard.

StrawberryFULLMoonOWOWOWWWWWWW · 27/10/2006 09:17

thanks lovemygirls..rang gp yesterday..apparantly, there were some spelling mistakes on reply so its going out today!!...we'll see!
