Hi, I am new to the Preston area, actually new to the UK, from America, and looking for affordable minder or nursery for my son. He will be 2 on December 18th. He has not has alot of exposure to other children, and we feel he really needs to spend some time with others his age. Our funds are limited, so maybe just a couple days a week for a few hours at a time.

Thanks so much, blakesmum

What about taking him to toddler groups, the toy library; perhaps your book library has a story/craft session? Unless he is very confident and outgoing, he could have difficulty getting used to a nursery or childminder if he's only doing a few hours per week.

your local library will probably run toddler sessions (but you have to stay)

local churches also will have mother and toddler sessions

contact the early years department of your council preston council and ask them to send you a list of childminders, and a list of playgroups etc

netmums provides local details .. put in your postcode to see what's going on in your local area

for list of nurseries try yell which is the online version of yellow pages

check out Tumble Tots (physical activity) and music classes in your area ..

oh and welcome to UK
