Attendance register book(ncma)

I find this book really annoying as i started with one child from the front, then added another child 1/4 way through then another etc, but now the pages are meeting up and the childrens notes are interlinking (if this makes sense!!). I was thinking of making my own one up next time, instead of buying the NCMA one. Has anyone else done this and how did you do it???

could you photocopy the blank pages? and use them?

mumlove · 20/10/2006 13:00

I write in them monthly.
So if new children start i just add the child onto the next page.

zoeuk1 · 20/10/2006 13:43

i fill out my register everyday. i was just thinking that if you photocopied the blank pages, then slip them into the book, you could use those. i just add a child onto the next page when they start with me. im just wondering why you added another child 1/4 way through and not onto the next available page?

alison222 · 20/10/2006 13:44

I'm like mumlove I just do it monthly so its however many children I have for that month go on those pages and it doesn't matter if they leave/new ones start.

zoeuk1 · 20/10/2006 13:50

what do you mean monthly? you fill the register in monthly? how can you remember what times the children arrived and left?

alison222 · 20/10/2006 13:58

Sorry that was unclear.
I do one month at a time - I fill it in regularly, but each page is for a month, so at the start of the month I start a page for each child, and the same again for the following month just using the pages as they come, so the register runs by date and not by child IYSWIM

mumlove · 20/10/2006 14:12

Yes the same as alison222. Each child has their own page for that month. I fill it in each day they come.

dmo · 20/10/2006 16:25

i just fill in all the childrens names i have in october then fill it in daily
near to the end of october i fill in novembers attendance sheets filling in the names of children i have in november

i do this as i have diff children diff months due to school hols etc

I think the NCMA stuff is quite pricey. I did my own - its easy to create a table in Word or Excel. Mine is 1 page per child per month. The table is headed with name of child & month/year, 1 column per week with the contracted start & finish time printed on (i handwrite any changes if they are late/early). At the bottom of each column is a row each for total hours, childminding fee, cost of meals, misc. & amount paid (I put the receipt no in here too), parents signature, cm signature.

Katymac · 20/10/2006 20:21

We were told (by both the network & OFSTED) to have an actual time of arrival/depature signed by the parents (well initials) - so I use a diary with a page to a day & write a list of the children due that day. Then I get the parents to sign in & out

zoeuk1 · 20/10/2006 21:23

so is it ok to not to have an ncma register then? would you say that having the ncma contracts is important but all the other stuff can be any type of book?

Katymac · 20/10/2006 21:28

I use the contracts / child record forms & insut=rance

I got a medication book & photocopied it (shh)

zoeuk1 · 20/10/2006 21:32

do you think i could just photo copy loads of blank pages from the register and make my own book instead of buying a new one? also, i'll need a new accounts book soon. do you think i could photo copy the ncma one and staple the pages together to make my own?

Katymac · 20/10/2006 21:33

If the form works for you - then use it

It didn't for me (but each to our own)

zoeuk1 · 20/10/2006 21:35

ok. i find the register and accounts book easy to use, so i think i'll just photocopy them. thanks.

Katymac · 20/10/2006 21:37

Obviously we won't really be photocopying stuff....it's all copyright protected - we will just type our own

mindermummy · 21/10/2006 10:41

Thanks for all your opinions. I think from now on im going to make my own register myself on word.
I would alsways buy the NCMA accounts book as i think that is so easy to fill out and essential for good accounts. I would always buy the contracts from there too. I think evrything else is very pricy and can easyily be made up by myself.

I have two cm (don't ask) and one uses the NCMA register that I sign. The other uses a normal desk diary and I sign that once a week.
