Hi, If you are a member of the NMCA you get a discount with Britannia Resuce. I found it was cheaper than AA and RAC. And the service is brilliant, I've called them out twice and both times been with me within half an hour.

Have you checked your bank account?
One of the 'perks' of our bank account is free membership to the AA. I needed them last week when I broke down and they were with me within half an hour of being called.

Whatever cover you organise, check that the company realise that it might be one vehicle, one adult and a large number of children!! If you have more than five people, your bog-standard cover can't always get you all home.

This was highlighted on a Watchdog (?) programme a few years ago, when it pointed out that owners of people carriers could well have more than 5 people to be brought home.

I was assured by my AA insurance that they would be able to get me home, but I had to work hard to get them to realise that it could be me and, perhaps, 8 children. There was a slow, dawning realisation that they didn't have space in their rescue vehicle to seat us all. They then said that they wouldn't be able to bring us home, but would ensure that I would be taken to the nearest bus/train station to enable us to get back (they weren't able to tell me how they would get all of us to the bus/train station, but that's another story!!)

I now have ordinary family AA membership (for me, dh and dds); plus additional RAC minibus cover for myself and my bus.
