CRB check for au pair? Any advice!

Hi,
We've just recruited an Italian au pair through au pair world, she is starting soon and last night I woke up in a cold sweat thinking I have no idea who she is!
What checks should I initiate? I am very happy to pay an external agency but is there any point doing an enhanced CRB if she's never lived in the UK? What experience do people have of checking IDs and background checks for overseas nationals, in particular from Italy?

Our au pair from Rome found it fairly easy, but there was some issue about only being able to do it on certain days of the week.....it was much easier though than doing a DBS/CRB in the UK.

Google her, befriend her on social networking sites Instagram etc. This gives you a pretty good idea of what kind of person she is! Good luck! X
