Obscure (and minor) ethical dilemma.....

I have received an excellent application for the nanny job I'm advertising.
She has great experience, references, and she lives really locally.
BUT, she has a attached a photo of herself with one of her charges, standing in front of a tree on which they have carved their initials. Which is clearly entirely unacceptable!!

Now, she's too good to resist interviewing, but if I do take her on then I'm going to have to point out to her that I don't want her teaching my DD to abuse trees in that way.

I'd just point it out. I agree with you that carving initials in trees is not ok (not nice for the tree; also really a form of vandalism), but I think this isn't seen that way by a lot of people. And at least she's doing interesting things with the kids ...

lol
Perhaps it wasn't here idea to do the carving, perhaps there is a family tradition or something. Just tell her that all trees in your garden have preservation orders or something.

aw lovely trees

marthamoo · 04/10/2006 21:42

Buy her some cans of spray paint and tell her you can only condone graffiti.

flutterbeehatinghalloween · 04/10/2006 21:43

I expect the carving has been done in the parents garden with full consent of the parents.

Stop worrying about it and interview the woman.

Steady on DW!!!

DeathwatchBeetle73 · 04/10/2006 21:46

Yes, I hadn't thought of that FB. Being a flat-dweller I just associate trees with parks .

MM - don't even suggest it. DD really doesn't need any encouragement to scrawl on inappropriate surfaces .
